Aurora, Oregon
AURORA, OR – July, 2008 – “Beauty,
Unity and History” is the theme for the City of Aurora’s annual
Aurora Colony Days celebration on August 8-10 .The weekend long
celebration features activities all around the city of 900
residents, a national historic district. The celebration kicks off
Friday night with an artist reception, followed Saturday morning by
the parade and old-fashioned family carnival. This year the popular
Outdoor Antiques Faire will take place on Sunday.
Saturday Events
Saturday the parade begins promptly at 11 a.m. Directly after
the parade walk downtown to the Old Fashioned Family Carnival (noon
- 4 p.m.), where you will find traditional carnival games,
inflatable toys, balloon art, face painting, a dunk tank and bungee
jumper.
Neighboring this year’s carnival will be the first annual Local
Flavors Market. The market is designed to showcase area food,
produce and confectionary goods for the community and visitors
alike. The Market will run from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Also taking place
during this time are the Aurora Artists Association Art Show & Sale,
free self-guided tours of the Old Aurora Colony Museum and trolley
tours of Aurora.
Sunday Events
Sunday August 10th, the historic streets of downtown Aurora will
be closed and filled with booths of quality antiques dealers from
around the Northwest. Not a flea market or a garage sale, this is a
chance to find the best in country primitives, cottage and antique
furniture, collectable china, glassware, advertising and more.
Additionally, Aurora’s famous antiques and specialty shops offer
even more selection, as well as air conditioned comfort! Specialty
foods, a classic car rally and the Art Show & Sale round out this
once-a-year-day.
